Interior Renovations That Cover the Whole Room

Interior renovations cover more ground than most homeowners expect, and Abner Flooring and Remodeling handles the full scope: wood floor installation, tile flooring, drywall installation, painting, laminate flooring, trim, and baseboard installation under one roof, serving the Greater Atlanta metro seven days a week. If you're mid-project and your current contractor only handles one trade, you already know the problem. Call (404) 706-8999 to get one crew that stays from demo to finish.

The most expensive part of any remodel is usually the work you have to redo because the sequence was wrong or the trades didn't coordinate. Abner handles the order of operations: floors go in after drywall, paint follows trim, and nothing gets finished before it should. That's not a small thing. Cost on interior renovation work shifts based on room count, material choices, existing surface condition, and how much of the work involves repairs versus new installation. A room with water-damaged drywall and buckled flooring costs more to bring back than a clean gut-and-rebuild. Every job is different. Contact Abner Flooring and Remodeling for an accurate estimate.

What Full-Service Interior Renovation Covers

01

Flooring Installation

Hardwood, LVP, laminate, and tile installed in the right order, with proper acclimation and subfloor prep. No shortcuts on the foundation.

02

Drywall and Repairs

Hang, tape, finish, and skim coat. Whether it's new construction drywall or patching water damage, we get the wall smooth before paint ever touches it.

03

Interior Painting

Walls, ceilings, trim, and doors. Paint that's applied after floors and trim are set, not before, so there's no overspray to clean up and no touch-up calls after.

04

Trim and Baseboard Work

Baseboards, door casings, and window trim installed and caulked to match the finished floor height. New flooring almost always needs new trim.

05

Tile and Epoxy

Ceramic and floor tile for kitchens and utility spaces, plus concrete epoxy floor installation for garages and basements that need a durable, sealed surface.

06

Floor Refinishing and Repair

Existing hardwood that's worth saving doesn't need to be replaced. We sand, refinish, and restore. Floor refinishing is often the smarter move in older homes.

How It Works

One Call, One Crew, No Handoff Problems

Managing multiple contractors on one renovation means managing schedules, gaps, and blame when something doesn't line up. Abner keeps it under one roof.

  1. 01

    Free Estimate, All Trades

Tell us what the room needs. We assess the floors, walls, trim, and surfaces in one visit and give you a single scope of work.

  2. 02

    We Stage the Work Correctly

Drywall and paint before flooring. Flooring before trim. Trim before final paint. The sequence matters more than most homeowners realize, and we don't get it backwards.

  3. 03

    Finished Room, Not a Half-Job

You get a completed room, not a floor with bare drywall edges. Every surface is finished before we leave. Call (404) 706-8999 to get started.

When to Modernize Versus When to Repair

Homeowners searching for interior renovations are usually in one of two situations: a room that's dated and needs a full refresh, or a room with actual damage that's forced the issue. Honestly, the answer isn't always a full renovation. If the existing hardwood is solid and just worn, floor refinishing costs a fraction of replacement and looks just as good. If the drywall has one bad section, we patch it, we don't hang a new room. The goal is to fix what needs fixing and upgrade what's worth upgrading. Spending money for the sake of spending money isn't advice we'd give. But if the floors are cupped, the drywall is soft, and the trim hasn't been touched in thirty years, then yes, a coordinated interior renovation is going to be cheaper and faster than managing three separate contractors over six months. Neighborhoods throughout the Greater Atlanta metro, from Midtown to Brookhaven to Sandy Springs, have housing stock ranging from 1940s bungalows to 1990s colonials, and the right call depends entirely on what's already there.

Common Questions

What Homeowners Ask About Interior Renovations

What is the most expensive part of a home interior renovation?
Usually it's the work that touches structural or water-damaged surfaces: rotted subfloor, compromised drywall from a leak, or tile set over a failing substrate that has to come out before anything new goes down. Labor for tear-out and prep costs more per hour than installation, and homeowners who skipped inspection before buying often find this out mid-project. Getting eyes on the room before you commit to a budget is the most useful thing you can do.
Do floors or walls get done first in an interior renovation?
Walls first. Specifically, drywall and most of the painting should be complete before flooring goes in. Floating floors expand and contract, and you don't want them fully locked in before the drywall's moisture content has settled. Trim goes last, after both flooring and paint, so baseboard height is set to the finished floor rather than guessed at. The sequence isn't optional. Getting it wrong means redoing work.
Can you renovate one room at a time, or does it make sense to do the whole house?
One room at a time is completely valid. A lot of our work is a single primary bedroom, a main living area, or a kitchen-adjacent space. That said, if multiple rooms need flooring, doing them together lowers the per-room cost because setup, material ordering, and floor-level transitions are handled once instead of repeatedly. We'll tell you when it makes sense to bundle and when it doesn't.
How long does an interior renovation typically take?
A single-room renovation covering drywall, paint, flooring, and trim runs two to five days for most standard-sized rooms, assuming materials are on hand and there's no hidden damage once demo starts. Multi-room projects or work that includes flooring repair on an unknown subfloor adds time. We give you a realistic timeline during the estimate, not an optimistic one that falls apart on day two.
Do I need to move all my furniture out before the crew arrives?
Yes. Floors can't be installed under furniture, drywall can't be finished around it, and trim can't be set against a wall blocked by a couch. Clear the room before we arrive. For flooring work specifically, appliances like refrigerators or stoves in adjacent spaces may need to move depending on the scope. We'll tell you exactly what needs to come out when we do the estimate.
Can Abner handle the renovation if my home has older plaster walls instead of drywall?
Plaster walls are common in pre-1960s homes throughout the Greater Atlanta area. We work with what's there. If the plaster is structurally sound, we can patch and refinish without full replacement. If it's failing, crumbling, or has significant crack patterns, we'll tell you that replacing sections with drywall is the practical choice. We don't remove plaster for the sake of it, but we also don't pretend failing plaster is a cosmetic issue.
